Safety & Compliance Consultant

Location: Spokane, WA

Professional Compliance & Safety, a branch of Personalized Consulting Services, has an exciting opportunity for a Safety & Compliance Specialist to provide on-site consultation services for contracted agribusiness clients. The Safety & Compliance specialist is responsible for assisting clients with the overall management of safety and ensuring the operation is in compliance with all federal, state, and organizational laws, rules and regulations.

You Will: 

· Safety Management Assistance

Provide assistance to the client in implementing safety management practices to raise awareness, build buy-in, and improve the overall safety culture of the organization.

· Communicate Regulatory Requirements

Communicate with management, safety staff and employees to keep all locations current regarding changes in safety regulations and programs related to OSHA and DOT compliance.

· Safety Program Development and Assistance

Determine the compliance programs appropriate for the client locations and assist with the preparation of site-specific program components

· Safety & Compliance Training

Facilitate training for all employees to meet compliance requirements, address site-specific training needs, and promote best practices within the organization. Provide resources and assistance for new employee orientation materials.

· Compliance Monitoring

Conduct and document periodic facility inspections focused on OSHA and DOT compliance requirements and provide recommendations based on best practices. Complete comprehensive audits in high risk areas such as propane compliance, DOT compliance, Risk Management Program compliance, etc. to evaluate needs and communicate concerns to management and responsible personnel.

· Foster Employee Involvement and Ownership

Assist with establishing a safety committee and conduct regular meetings to involve employees in the company safety program and provide feedback on areas of need. Provide resources to ensure that meetings are completed and documented.

· Establish Relationships with Regulatory Agency Personnel

Provide assistance to clients with state and federal regulatory audits. Work closely with enforcement personnel and the client to identify solutions and address areas of concern.

· Emergency Compliance Assistance

Provide on-site and phone emergency assistance to clients when incidents occur.

Basic Qualifications: 

· 3 years of Safety, Environmental, and/or Agri-Business experience.

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Hold a valid drivers license for the state in which they reside.

· The ability to communicate sensitive matters with client management and maintain confidentiality from others.

· Ability to speak in front of groups.

· Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment needed to inspect facilities.

· Must not be claustrophobic or unduly afraid of heights.

· Ability to travel; primarily day trips but includes some overnight stays

· Working knowledge of MS Excel (spreadsheet), Word (word processing), PowerPoint (presentation) and MS Outlook (email-communication) software.

 

Preferred Qualifications: (desired)

· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field

· Industry professional designations such as OHST, CTP or CSP

· 5+ years of safety, health and/or environmental experience

· Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel (spreadsheet), Word (word processing), PowerPoint (presentation) and MS Outlook (email-communication)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
